A successful 2025 Art-a-Fest is officially in the books!
52nd annual Art-a-Fest -- Charles City, IA -- August 16th

This festival fulfills an important role in the community and surrounding areas by supporting and celebrating local artists. Our goal is to make the arts accessible to all members of our community during this one-day, free event.

Each year our committee works hard to make the event a success for exhibitors and shoppers. This year, 46 artists (including 3 student artists and 4 emerging artists) were set up on the lawns of Central Park, offering a variety of artwork. Darrell Taylor, Curator and Assistant Director at the Waterloo Center for the Arts in Waterloo, IA, was this year's judge and awarded the following prizes:

  • 1st Place - Michelle Juhl

  • 2nd Place - Ruben Ruiz

  • 3rd Place - Karen Homann

  • Special Award for most unique, in honor of Jean Semelhack - Mariah Piippo

  • Special Award for Judge's choice, in honor of Nancy Clarke - Ann Bishop McGregor

  • Honorable Mentions - David Prehm, Candida Deree, Lisa Glaser, Annie Noodle, Wendy Ebbers

The winner of the new Emerging Artists program was Heather Smith of Des Moines, Iowa. Heather won a guaranteed and complimentary spot at Art-a-Fest 2026!

Participants and shoppers alike enjoyed the sounds of our performing artists  Emily Ann Bauer, Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre, and Beauty & The Beat during Art-a-Fest.

Local and regional food vendors also joined us in Central Park during Art-a-Fest!

There were all kinds of free games & interactive art activities for everyone to enjoy! Sidewalk chalk was available. Volunteers helped kids with spin art, marble art, stained glass art, popsicle stick frames, rock painting, and other fun things in Central Park. There were also giant yard games and face painting!

It was a great event. We couldn't have pulled it off without our incredible sponsors, team, and volunteers- thank you all so very much!
